Biography

Lauren Makin is a research assistant and NIHR Maudsley BRC PhD student at the Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry & Neuroscience at King's College London.

She is supervised by Professor Kate Tchanturia and Professor Valeria Mondelli. Her research explores how eating disorder treatment can better support Autistic and ADHD adults with binge-type presentations. Her mixed-methods PhD combines qualitative interviews, clinical outcomes data, and co-production to inform the development of psychoeducational materials and help expand the PEACE pathway to include ADHD and binge-type eating disorders.

Lauren achieved a First Class Honours integrated master's in psychology from the University of Bristol, where her dissertations and optional modules focused on eating behaviours and addiction. She has previously worked on digital health and social care projects at Cardiff University, as well as inclusive curriculum development at University of Bristol.

She also co-leads the ReproducibiliTea journal club at King’s and is passionate about inclusive, rigorous, and impactful research.
