I have worked as an oncology nurse for nearly 20 years. For most of my career I have worked at Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust. I have worked in various different areas all within Oncology. In 2008 I was involved in setting up the early phase clinical trials unit. I now work as an advanced nurse practitioner within the early phase and cell therapy team. The ANP role is widely under-utilised in clinical trials. The ANP role within clinical research, presents an opportunity to enhance the portfolio of investigator-led trials allowing the development of nurse-initiated research and enhanced patient recruitment across the clinical trials portfolio whilst providing continuity. I feel honoured to work in this role and be a part of a team delivering these novel treatments to patients.
