Current projects:

Lucie Burgess is a PhD student at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and the Centre for Urban Science and Progress London, funded by the Medical Research Council, working on the Urban Mind project. Lucie is developing statistical and computational tools to measure, model, understand and predict the impact of positive and negative factors in the built and social urban environment on mental health.  Lucie has 20 years’  experience of digital strategy and technology development from her previous career, a Masters degree in computer science from Birkbeck College, University of London and a Masters degree in physics from the University of Oxford. She also runs a consultancy, Helix Data Innovation, which advises data-driven and AI start-ups on commercialisation and funding.

Led by Professor Cathryn Lewis, it is a cross-school unit, comprising 20 researchers in the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre and in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics. Our aims are to develop and apply statistical methods to identify and characterise the genetic component to common, complex disorders.
