Dr Lygia Silva de Moraes is the Technical Manager of the X-ray diffraction equipment in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Engineering, King's College London. She manages the powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction instruments and provides crystallographic services for industry and academia.

Lygia is an expert in X-ray and electron crystallography with broad experience in the structural determination of small molecules. Her interests range from creating new methods for crystal growth to applying new techniques for crystal structure solution and refinement.

Before joining King's, Lygia obtained a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde (2019, Glasgow, UK). More recently, Lygia was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2021, Brussels, BE), and at the California Institute of Technology (2024, California, USA).
