Dr Mae Mansoubi PhD
Senior Lecturer in Applied AI in Better Health and Care
Biography
Dr. Mae Mansoubi is a Senior Lecturer in Applied AI in Better Health and Care at King's College London, working at the intersection of applied artificial intelligence, digital health engineering, wearable sensing, and clinical physiology. An academic and entrepreneur, she is also the Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of the digital health company Digitherapix. Her research focuses on developing and clinically validating AI-enabled measurement and remote monitoring technologies, successfully translating them into practical tools for health pathways, international clinical practice, and commercial products.
Dr. Mansoubi has led multiple research programmes funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and Innovate UK. Her flagship projects apply computer vision, wearable measurement, and machine learning to solve real-world clinical problems. These include remote hand rehabilitation in rheumatoid arthritis (DigiSARAH), digital recovery monitoring after total knee replacement (Knee4Life), digital biomarkers for multiple sclerosis (OCTive), and innovative digital physiotherapy tools such as AI-enhanced LiDAR home safety assessments for frailty (DigiHome) and motion capture for ergonomic assessment (DigiErgo). Furthermore, her research explores the integration of AI within palliative care assessment tools.
Her translational work has yielded a portfolio of granted patents in wearable measurement, signal processing, and AI-enabled remote monitoring. In recognition of her impactful translational work, she was named a finalist for Emerging Health and Life Sciences Entrepreneur of the Year in 2025.At King's, within the Division of Digital Health and Applied Technology Assessment (DHATA) in the Florence Nightingale Faculty and the Better Health & Care Hub, her work is dedicated to translating cutting-edge AI and digital health research into scalable, equitable, and clinically meaningful improvements in patient care.
