Biography

Dr Mário Bevilaqua is Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience Education in the Department of Basic & Clinical Neuroscience at King’s College London. Trained in biological sciences and biophysics, he completed a PhD in Neuroscience and has held research and teaching posts in both Brazil and the UK, with a background spanning developmental neurobiology and higher education.

At King’s, Dr Bevilaqua leads and contributes to teaching across postgraduate neuroscience programmes within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

His academic interests focus on neuroscience education, inclusive curriculum design, digital and online learning, and student wellbeing. He is actively involved in curriculum development and assessment design and has contributed to institutional initiatives aimed at enhancing learning and teaching practice in large-scale and online contexts.

Dr Bevilaqua is engaged in educational scholarship, serves as a reviewer for academic journals, and participates in outreach and cross-institutional activities that promote innovation and equity in neuroscience education.

Mário Bevilaqua is an expert in online learning and technological innovation in education. He works on initiatives such as the development of wellbeing programmes for higher education students, the creation of laboratory simulators to support neuroscience learning, the production of pedagogical podcasts, initiatives in curriculum decolonisation, applications of AI in education, and innovative assessment practices.
