Biography

Mark Withers is a Laboratory Technician in the Department of Chemistry, providing general support to research groups. He also manages the department’s stores providing consumables and materials to research groups.

Mark has worked in this role since 2017 having previously worked as a Laboratory Technician in several schools.

Mark graduated from the University of York in 2009 with an MChem in Chemistry.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage departmental equipment
  • Manage cryogen and compress gas provision within the department
  • Manage stocks and provision of consumables from Departmental Stores
  • Manage hazardous waste storage and removal
  • Support department chemical inventory and asset management systems
