Marlon is a Lecturer in Nursing Education in the Department of Adult Nursing within the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King’s College London. He primarily contributes to the delivery and development of the international post-qualification BSc Nursing with Honours programme. Delivered in partnership with Ngee Ann Academy in Singapore, this programme supports registered nurses undertaking degree-level professional education. Marlon also serves as one of the Chairs of the Undergraduate Pre-Registration Assessment Sub-Board, providing leadership in assessment governance, quality assurance, student progression, and the maintenance of academic standards across the Faculty’s undergraduate nursing programmes.

Marlon holds Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and in Clinical Practice (Intensive Care), as well as a Master’s degree in Acute Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at the Institute of Education, University College London. His research explores assessment practices within transnational nursing education programmes and their implications for student learning, educational quality, and academic and professional standards. His teaching and scholarly interests include the nursing process, clinical simulation, nursing assessment, critical thinking and clinical reasoning, interprofessional education, educational assessment, and transnational education. Drawing on an extensive clinical background, he also has specialist interests in critical care nursing and cardiac nursing.

Marlon has authored several peer-reviewed publications focused on improving bedside nursing practice, healthcare education, and student learning. He has also contributed a chapter to a nursing pharmacology textbook, supporting the development of nursing knowledge and clinical decision-making.Beyond King’s, Marlon contributes to the wider higher education sector as an External Examiner for the Adult Critical Care programmes at the University of Wolverhampton, supporting the enhancement of academic standards and assessment quality within specialist nursing education. Prior to joining King’s, he was a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for the BSc Adult Nursing (Top-up) programme at the University of East London (UEL), where he led programme delivery, curriculum enhancement, and student support initiatives. During his time at UEL, he received the Dean’s Excellence Award in recognition of his contributions to teaching and student learning.

He is actively engaged with the wider academic and professional community through membership of several national and international organisations, including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Phi Mu Chapter), the Transnational Education Network at Universities UK International, and the Association for Educational Assessment (AEA) Europe. He also supports the Filipino nursing community through his involvement with the Filipino Senior Nurses Alliance UK and the Filipino Nursing Diaspora Network, where he serves as the UK Country Representative.

Through his teaching, scholarship, academic leadership, external examiner work, and professional engagement, Marlon is committed to advancing nursing education, promoting excellence in assessment and curriculum design, and preparing nurses to meet the evolving demands of contemporary healthcare systems. His work focuses on enhancing the quality of nursing education through innovative assessment practices, evidence-informed pedagogy, and international educational partnerships that support the development of safe, reflective, and compassionate nursing professionals.

Teaching

Marlon is the Module Lead for the Nursing Assessment and Care Management Skills module and the Deputy Module Lead for the Dissertation module within the BSc Nursing with Honours programme for qualified nurses in Singapore.
