Dr Matilda Azis received her PhD from King's College London, focusing on the clinical presentation and neurobiology of individuals at Ultra High Risk of Psychosis. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she coordinated multi-site clinical reliability across major US studies of psychosis risk, before returning to the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience as a Research Associate, where her research examines the clinical and cognitive factors underlying the onset of psychosis.Matilda leads a national NHS training programme funded by Health Education England, in the psychometric concepts of attenuated psychosis and the reliable identification and assessment of individuals at risk of psychosis and other serious mental illnesses. She also has designed and delivered teaching on early detection in mental health and leads the innovative new co-produced module - Clinical Pathways, which integrates lived experience and clinical assessment combining compassionate, person-centred perspectives with rigorous, evidence-based approaches to mental health evaluation.
