Dr Matt Thompson is a Senior Lecturer of Design Engineering in the Department of Engineering, King’s College London and a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Matt previously taught at ASU London, leading the design and delivery of innovative project-based learning education in mechanical design engineering.

Matt has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) from the University of Nottingham and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham.

During his PhD, Matt worked on developing novel geometric modelling methods for braided composites. His research focused on the material characterisation of braided fabrics to develop analytical models of the braided geometry and predict the mechanical performance.
