Biography

Melanie is a Research Assistant and Project Co-Ordinator at Cicely Saunders Institute, King’s College London, having joined in July 2024. Melanie was awarded a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy in 2011 and an MSc in Rehabilitation in 2019. She has a clinical background as an Occupational Therapist working both in the United Kingdom and overseas with adults living with long-term conditions and adults experiencing life-threatening or life-limiting conditions within Palliative and End-of-Life Care services. Melanie has previously held a lecturer position at Oxford Brookes University, delivering pre-registration Occupational Therapy education, and has achieved recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Alongside her current role at the CSI, Melanie is also undertaking a PhD, using qualitative methods to explore bereaved caregivers' end-of-life care experiences for people with Advanced Heart Failure.
