PhD student
Biography
Michal Shalev is a PhD student in the Comparative Literature Cohort. Her research examines Jewish-Israeli and white South African life writing, analysing the different forms of self-narration and what they reveal about the forces and motivations that shape settler subjectivity—both in global patterns and specific historical contexts. Often marked by failure and disappointment, these narratives serve as a lens to explore orientations toward post-settler-colonial futures. She is particularly interested in the intersection of fact and fiction, post-national possibilities, and solidarity while critically assessing the potential and limitations of decolonial thought.
