Biography

Michalis Chryssanthopoulos, Visiting Professor at King’s College, London, from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022, is also Professor of General and Comparative Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He studied Law, Economics and History at the University of Athens and the London School of Economics and Literature at the University of Birmingham. He holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham. 

Michalis has published on Modern Greek literature of the 19th and 20th century from a comparative perspective (books and papers on Vizyinos, Cavafy, Surrealism), on dreams in literature and on autobiography. He is working now on a book on the poetry of C.P. Cavafy (1863-1933) exploring the ways that his earlier poetry, written during the 19th century, prefigures the poetry written during the 20th. He is also preparing a book on modernist and post-modernist Greek writing in the 1960s.
