Myrthe is a PhD Student on a joint PhD between the Leverhulme Centre for Humanity and Space at the University of Leicester and the Freeman Air and Space Institute. Her research broadly examines how modern developments in the Second Space Age affect escalation dynamics in outer space, and what this means for how we understand and act on existing theories of escalation. 

Her wider research spans space security, escalation dynamics, strategic autonomy and broader dimensions of the United Kingdom’s strategic influence in space.

She holds an MA in National Security Studies from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, as well as a BA in International Relations and an LLB in Dutch Law from the University of Groningen. Myrthe previously worked as an analyst at know.space.
