Research Governance Manager

Biography

Nafisa Hussain is a Research Governance Manager within the Department of Women and Children’s Health at King’s College London. She brings over 10 years of experience in research delivery, clinical trial coordination, and regulatory compliance across academic and NHS settings.

Her current work supports the Conception-to-Cradle initiative, where she plays a key role in strengthening research governance systems and streamlining study setup across King’s Health Partners. Nafisa provides end-to-end governance support across a wide portfolio of studies, including clinical trials, observational studies, biobanking, and international research collaborations.

She manages IRAS and HRA submissions, facilitates ethics and regulatory approvals, oversees Trial Master File (TMF) setup, coordinates Trial Management and Steering Committee activities, and provides end-to-end governance support from study start-up through to close-out, ensuring compliance is maintained throughout. Her responsibilities also include supporting the expansion of the Women’s Health Bioresource and coordinating global health programmes, including the development of a pregnancy-related acute kidney injury (Pr-AKI) toolkit in low- and middle-income countries.

She is particularly focused on enabling efficient, compliant, and inclusive research by supporting investigators through every stage of the research lifecycle. With a practical and collaborative approach, Nafisa helps ensure that research governance requirements are met without delaying study delivery, supporting both local and international teams to navigate regulatory frameworks and deliver high-quality research that makes a real-world impact.
