Biography

Dr Olena Rudyk is a Lecturer in Biochemistry and Physiology within the Cardiovascular Sciences Section of the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences. Olena completed her PhD in the Department of Blood Circulation (Supervisor – Prof Vadim Sagach) at the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2006, which she followed by postdoctoral training at King’s College London. In 2015 Dr Rudyk was awarded BHF Intermediate Basic Science Fellowship, during which she developed an interest in preclinical Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). Since then, she has been working on understanding the molecular mechanisms contributing to PH. The current main focus of Rudyk Lab is to identify novel redox sensors and signalling pathways and employ an integrative approach to test potential new targets for therapy.
