Biography

I am a PhD student and GTA whose project interrogates the psychoanalytic relationship with the non-human. Drawing upon literature, art and critical theories, my thesis rethinks the margins of subjectivity, ponders the fraught link between language and animality, and draws out Sigmund Freud’s psychical investment in Othering the unknown.

My broader research interests include critical theories of gender and posthumanism, psychoanalytic approaches to the arts and humanities, and particularly enjoy engaging with work by Donna Haraway, Sarah Kofman and Rosi Braidotti.

Outside of academia, I am an archivist and researcher at Godmersham Park, the former home of Jane Austen’s brother, Edward.

I have recently been interviewed on BBC Radio Kent and KMTV for the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen.

My supervisors are Professor Patrick ffrench and Dr Alicia Kent.
