Biography
Panagis Drakatos is a Consultant in Sleep Medicine at the Sleep Disorders Centre, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he has worked since 2014, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London. He obtained his medical degree in Greece and completed a PhD investigating the relationship between obstructive sleep apnoea and erectile dysfunction. His clinical and research interests include obstructive sleep apnoea (particularly endotypes and arousal-threshold phenotyping), parasomnias, restless legs syndrome, and hypersomnia. He has published in these areas and contributed book chapters, including to the Oxford Handbook of Sleep Medicine and the Encyclopaedia of Sleep and Circadian Rhythms.
Panagis participates as faculty in postgraduate programmes at the Universities of Oxford and Athens, is accredited as a Somnologist by the European Sleep Research Society, and is regularly invited to lecture and chair sessions at national and international meetings. He received the Lyn Davies Award for Innovation in Sleep Medicine.
