Peter is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Clinical Trial Statistics within the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. He graduated with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham in 2014, an MSc in Medical Statistics from the University of Leicester in 2015 and a PhD in Clinical Trials Research from the University of Nottingham in 2019, through a doctoral research fellowship funded by NIHR. His PhD evaluated the costs and benefits of adjudicating outcomes in stroke trials.

Peter joined King's in September 2026, having previously worked as a Senior Research Fellow and statistician in the Meta-analysis Programme at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL. During his time at UCL he worked across the STOPCAP M1 programme in prostate cancer and as part of the WHO Rapid Evidence Appraisal for COVID-19 Therapies Working Group. In 2023, he was awarded a Young Investigator Award from Prostate Cancer Foundation, entitled: "Optimal methods for identifying and communicating which treatments are best for which people with metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer". 

Alongside his role at King’s, Peter is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at UCL and a Guest Researcher at the University Medical Center Rostock, where he collaborates on methodological research in meta-analysis and provides advice on clinical projects in evidence synthesis. 

Research Interests

Peter’s research focuses on statistical methods for evidence synthesis and collaborative approaches to meta-analysis. His main current interests include prospective meta-analysis (PMA), individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis and statistical methods for investigating how treatment effects vary according to patient characteristics.

A major theme of his research is developing and applying methods to better understand which treatments work best, and for whom. This includes methods for estimating treatment-covariate interactions and subgroup-specific treatment effects, as well as improving the design, conduct and analysis of PMA and IPD meta-analysis. 

Peter is an Associate Convenor of the Cochrane PMA Methods Group, an Associate Editor of Research Synthesis Methods, and co-chair of the SMART-IPD Group.
