Biography

Myfanwy Morgan is Professor Emeritus of Medical Sociology at King’s College London.

Her research has mainly focused on patients’ experience and management of chronic health conditions and the evaluation of interventions with an emphasis on the influence of social circumstances, age and ethnicity. Her current research is examining adherence with photoprotection by patients with xeroderma pigmentosum and evaluation of a personalised intervention as part of a NIHR programme of research, and the needs and provision of alternatives to Emergency Department services for people with epilepsy.

Myfanwy has collaborated with a variety of clinical specialties and with universities in Europe and North America. She has held programme and project grants funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the Medical Research Council (MRC) and other charities. Teaching has included undergraduate medical sociology and postgraduate courses in public health and research methods plus supervision of PhDs. Myfanwy has been a member of grant awarding panels, government advisory groups and editorial boards and was elected Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health.
