Biography
Sir Chris Husbands is an educationist and public policy academic. He was Director of the Institute of Education between 2010 and 2015, and between 2016 and 2023 was Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, one of the UK’s largest, most diverse universities, winning national awards for teaching, enterprise, social mobility and community engagement. He chaired the UK Teaching Excellence Framework, the Higher Education Statistics Agency and serves on a number of advisory and executive boards including Jisc, the Higher Education Policy Institute and the Education Policy Institute. His academic work is concerned with education system improvement in schools and universities and has been disseminated through seventeen books and several hundred papers and presentations. He has worked on system improvement with governments on four continents.
