Biography

Puqiu joined the Department of Political Economy (DPE) as a PhD researcher in October 2025, fully funded by the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (ESRC/UKRI).

His doctoral research explores how climate and energy policies affect voting choices and political partisanship under (un)favourable conditions in the European Union. His broader research interests also include issues in environmental politics, such as climate activism, climate denialism, microplastic governance and international climate change negotiations.

Puqiu holds an MSc (Distinction) in Economics and International Relations from University of East Anglia, UK (2023-2024); an LL.M (Political Science) in International Relations from China Foreign Affairs University (2022-2025); a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from University of International Relations, China (2018-2022).
