Biography

Reem is a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychological Medicine at King’s College London, working on the Wellcome Discovery Award-funded Collective Action for Race Equity in Health and Social Care (CARE-HSC) project. Within CARE-HSC, her role involves collaborating with NHS peer researchers to explore the mechanisms that sustain racial inequities in health and social care outcomes. Her work uses mixed-methods approaches to examine structural patterns shaping healthcare professional experiences and to contribute to the development of more equitable workplace practices and policy.

Reem holds an MSc in Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology (Distinction) from King’s College London, where she focused on mental health and inclusion in workplace contexts. Her master’s dissertation, “Disclosure experiences in LGBTQ+ healthcare staff: a systematic review and meta-synthesis,” published in BMJ Open, examined the factors shaping disclosure decisions and their psychological implications for healthcare staff.

She has also contributed to research on neurodiversity from a strengths-based perspective using psychometric approaches, and to a project funded by the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry exploring barriers to women’s progression into leadership roles. Alongside her research work, she has industry experience in People Analytics and Organisational Compliance within corporate settings, which informs her interest in translating research into practical organisational change. Her research interests centre on workplace inclusion, wellbeing, and co-produced research that bridges academic evidence with organisational practice.

Expertise and Public Engagement

Delivered a presentation to the Corporate Psychology and Psychotherapy Team at South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust based on her Master’s dissertation at King’s College London, which examined disclosure experiences among LGBTQ+ healthcare professionals. The session explored implications for psychological safety, leadership support, and the development of more inclusive workplace cultures within healthcare settings.

Prior to joining King’s College London, contributed to a chapter on neurodiversity in organisational contexts, analysing psychometric profiles of 396 individuals using the GC Index to explore strengths-based approaches to understanding neurodiverse teams.

Building on this work, delivered tailored presentations to public and private sector organisations, including NHS coaching teams and AstraZeneca, focusing on how organisations can better recognise diverse strengths, support neurodivergent employees, and foster more inclusive and effective team performance.
