Dr Ridwan Oyebayo Olaniran

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Biography

Dr Ridwan Oyebayo Olaniran is a statistician contributing to the NIHR RfPB-funded project ‘pmsims’ at King’s College London, led by Dr Ewan Carr and Gordon Forbes, where he applies his expertise in statistical computing and high-dimensional data modelling to sample size software development.

His research focuses on Bayesian statistics, machine learning and biostatistical applications in cancer genomics, with a strong emphasis on methodological innovation for longitudinal and high-dimensional datasets.

Dr Olaniran holds a PhD in Statistics (2019) from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and First-Class BSc/MSc degrees from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

Prior to joining King’s, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biostatistics at the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (Brussels, 2022–2024) and held academic roles at the University of Ilorin and Kwara State University, Nigeria, teaching advanced statistics and supervising over 60 undergraduate projects and postgraduate dissertations.

He has published extensively in Q1 journals like Mathematics and Journal of Clinical Oncology, developed R packages (BayesRandomForest, MEGB), and received awards including European Organisation fellowships and a Graduate on Time Award. A member of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis and ASCO, his work bridges statistical theory with real-world challenges in healthcare.
