Biography

Ruby Morton is a LISS DTP CASE PhD student in Psychological Medicine Research in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. Her doctoral research focuses on social health inequalities and benefit receipt, particularly among people who experience mental health problems.Ruby completed a BSc in Psychology (2023) and an MSc in Applied Statistical Modelling and Health Informatics (2025) at King’s College London, graduating with a distinction in both degrees. Ruby has expertise in mental health epidemiology, health data science, and cognitive neuropsychology. Ruby has worked as a Research Assistant on the PETRA Study in the UCL Division of Psychiatry and has completed a King’s Research Experience Studentship and a King’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship on experimental projects in episodic memory. Her master’s research explored psychopathological heterogeneity and treatment response in treatment-resistant depression. Ruby also has professional experience as an illustrator.Ruby’s PhD research leverages a newly established data linkage of SLaM mental health service data and Department of Work and Pensions benefits records. Her research is also in collaboration with Skills and Employment at Lambeth Council, examining intersectionality and local interventions for people with complex barriers to work.
