Biography
Sam is the Technical Manager for NMR Spectroscopy in the Department of Chemistry. Based in Britannia House, he manages the small molecule NMR service for researchers internal and external to the department. In addition to maintaining the department’s NMR instruments and supporting users day-to-day, Sam works on spectroscopic method development, troubleshooting and experiment design as required to meet the research needs of end users.
Prior to joining King’s, Sam read chemistry at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, matriculating in 2017. He then spend over 4 years in industry as a spectroscopist with Eurofins Selcia in Essex, most recently in the role of Senior Research Scientist, providing NMR support for 14C radiolabelled organic synthesis, discovery medicinal chemistry and regulatory analytical chemistry studies.
With a broad chemistry background, Sam’s main interests involve finding applications for novel small molecule NMR methodologies within the scope of the work carried out in the department. He is also keen to hear from wider academic and industrial scientists interested in access to the department’s instrumentation.
