Biography

Dr Sam Hutchings is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Inflammation Biology, School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences.

He is a military academic intensivist with research interests focused around shock and tissue perfusion and the use of novel point of care methods to guide resuscitation. His doctoral thesis focused on the importance of tissue perfusion in the development of organ dysfunction after haemorrhagic shock. Current studies are investigating the role of perfusion deficits in the development of acute kidney injury in critically ill patients with sepsis.
