
Biography
Sam is a lecturer in physiotherapy education and research, and leads the Integrated Physiotherapy Practice: Acute, Emergency and Primary Care module. Her clinical and research interests are in Trauma and Orthopaedics, with a particular focus on rehabilitation needs in diverse populations, including both children and adults.
She has supported the development of both children’s major trauma services and elective orthopaedic services within the NHS. Sam completed an NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Doctoral Fellowship, during which she developed and psychometrically evaluated a self-report needs assessment tool, entitled: the Manchester Needs Tool for Injured Children—using mixed qualitative and quantitative methods.
She is currently undertaking a post-doctoral fellowship funded by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Charitable Trust, aimed at developing community rehabilitation recommendations for patients following day-case hip and knee arthroplasty.
