
Biography
Sarah Amadio joined King's College Language Centre in 2020. She completed her MA in French Literature (2008) at Sorbonne University, France, her BA in Cultural (2011) at Paul Valery University of Montpellier, France and her BA & Ma in French Didactics from Grenoble Alpes University and Sorbonne University, France. Sarah is a Higher Education Fellow.
Sarah Amadio is a French language lecturer with extensive experience in teaching and cultural programming across France, Australia, and the UK. Since 2020, she has taught at the King’s Language Centre at King’s College London, delivering French courses across a range of programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate modules, short courses for the public, professional training in fields such as law and business, and doctoral training provision. Her approach emphasises inclusion, cultural awareness, and student engagement, with a strong focus on enabling learners to use French confidently and meaningfully in academic, professional, and everyday contexts. She supports a diverse range of students, from beginners to advanced speakers, addressing varied goals and learning needs. Sarah has developed and led tailored courses, including a 20-week French programme for medical and humanitarian professionals that integrates practical language development with cultural insight. She adapts content and delivery to suit diverse cohorts, prioritising accessibility and relevance throughout her teaching.
Beyond the classroom, she contributes actively to community-building and staff engagement. She initiated a cross-cultural book club for colleagues at the King’s Language Centre, using world literature to foster inclusive dialogue and critical reflection. She has also collaborated with institutions such as the University of Oxford and remains committed to ongoing professional development to ensure her practice remains current and responsive. Her work reflects a strong commitment to diversity, intercultural understanding, and the broader social significance of language education.
Research, Scholarly projects and Academic Awards
Her scholarly interests and research focus on gamification in education and digital pedagogy. A current research project employs AI-generated imagery to facilitate student engagement in creative writing tasks that foster intercultural competence and promote the decompartmentalisation of disciplinary boundaries. She also investigates how AI technologies can enhance teaching methodologies and assessment practices.
