Biography

Shabana Falak is a PhD researcher in the EPSRC CDT in Advanced Engineering for Personalised Surgery and Intervention at King’s College London. She has a background in pharmacy and holds a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from IIT Bombay, with research experience in drug delivery and biomaterials.Her research focuses on engineering stimuli-responsive, drug-eluting sutures and implants. She is developing systems that enable on-demand, localised drug release using focused ultrasound (FUS), with applications in brain tumour resection and vascular surgery.Her work integrates biomaterials, controlled drug delivery, and therapeutic ultrasound to improve post-surgical outcomes and reduce disease recurrence. Outside her research, she is an avid photographer, exploring perspective and detail through the lens of the natural world
