Biography
Dr Mehta is the Programme Director for the MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry and serves as Academic Lead for Digital Education and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). He has been teaching at King’s College London since 2006.
Dr Mehta graduated in Dentistry with Distinction from King’s College London in 1996. He also holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences (First Class Honours, 1993), a Master’s degree in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) with Distinction (2005), and a Doctorate in Medical Sciences from Radboud University Medical Center, The Netherlands (2021), with a focus on tooth wear.
He holds Fellowships with the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK)/College of General Dentistry, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Faculty of Dental Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Advance HE.
Dr Mehta is the Lead Clinical Adviser to the General Dental Council (GDC) in Fitness to Practise, where he leads the Clinical Dental Advisory Team. He is also a Visiting Professor and PhD supervisor at RadboudUMC, Chair of the Career Pathways Reference Group at the College of General Dentistry, Editorial Director of Aesthetic Update, and a member of the Editorial Board for Dental Update.
He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers, including research on tooth wear, and has co-authored and co-edited two textbooks on tooth wear and aesthetic dentistry. In addition, he has written several book chapters and is a member of the European Expert Consensus Panel on Severe Tooth Wear. Dr Mehta regularly lectures at conferences both in the UK and internationally.
