Dr Shona Macleod

Lecturer in International Development

Biography

Shona is a Lecturer in International Development. Her work focuses on development discourses and child rights. She holds a PhD in International Development from SOAS, University of London, and an MSc in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh. Shona joined the department in October 2022. She brings over seven years of experience in development practice and has previously worked for child rights and community-led development NGOs in Senegal and in London. 

Research 

Shona's research focuses on the power of discourse in development to shape issues as problems for interventions, organise structures and institutions, and set the rules of engagement with those targeted by interventions. She is also interested in issues affecting street-connected populations.
