Postdoctoral Research Associate

Biography

Shona is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at King's, working with Professor Frans Berkhout on the CLARITY-Africa project.

The Wellcome Trust-funded project, involving a consortium led by Imperial College London and involving the University of Ghana and African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Rwanda, aims to coproduce knowledge on the health impacts of climate change and cocreate adaptations in the contexts of schools and outdoor work in Ghana and Rwanda.

Shona holds a PhD in International Development from SOAS, University of London. Prior to joining the Department of Geography at King's, Shona was a Rights Lab Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham. Her previous research centres around government and NGO responses to the practice of begging by boys in traditional Qur’anic schools in West Africa, and she has several years of experience working with NGOs in Senegal and in the UK. She has also previously taught in the Department of International Development at King's.
