Research interests
Silvia is a political theorist whose specialty is the intersection of feminist political theory and classical Greek antiquity. More broadly, she is also interested in critical theory, experiments in self-rule and radical democracy, and the politics of backlash, especially with respect to gender.
She is currently working on her first book, titled Ruled by Women, which explores how figures of women's rule (gynocracy) have been used to negotiate the boundaries of democratic belonging both in classical antiquity and in contemporary alt-right spaces. Broadly, her research is concerned with how the way in which ancient Greek thinkers engaged questions related to gender and political rule can illuminate debates surrounding the anti-feminist backlash of the last decade.
