Biography
Sofia's background is in Health Psychology and Health Services Research. She received her PhD from King's College London in 2014 and is an experienced quantitative researcher. She has also been teaching a variety of health- and research-related subjects including facilitation of communication skills training for healthcare professionals at King's College London and the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Sofia's current main area of research pertains to Oncology. She is particularly interested in examining if and how PROMs, health inequalities and psychological approaches such as motivational interviewing and provision of social support contribute to improving patient-physician communication as well as patients’ quality of life, self-management, and coping skills in cancer survivors.
Sofia joined the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at King’s College London on a part-time basis in May 2025 as a Senior Teaching Fellow while still also working part-time for the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
