Biography

Sophie Taylor is a PhD student at the Cicely Saunders Institute at King’s College London, where she began her studies in June 2025. She holds a BSc in Psychology with a Clinical Health specialism from the University of Glasgow and an MSc in Global Mental Health from both King’s College London and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

With experience in both quantitative and qualitative research, Sophie brings a broad skillset to her work. As a research assistant at City University, she has been involved in large, national research, improving the feasibility and accessibility of cognitive tasks aimed at children. She has also been involved in transcription studies, working alongside The Clinical Psychedelic Lab at Monash University and has co-authored a rapid review, whilst working for Overcome, a mental health charity in London.

Her work as an Allied Health Assistant in both Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, has largely informed her perspective on mental health research, by emphasising the importance of patient and family-centred care. At King’s College London, Sophie’s research is aiming to understand the long term economic impact of caring for young people with life limiting conditions on families and carers in the UK.
