Professor of Statistics & Epidemiology
Biography
Stephen is Professor of Statistics & Epidemiology in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. Prior to joining King's in 2025, he was Professor of Medical Statistics at the Brighton & Sussex Medical School where he was closely involved with the development of the Brighton & Sussex Clinical Trials Unit.
His principal research interests centre on the design and analysis of pragmatic randomised controlled trials of complex interventions in community healthcare settings. He also has a strong interest in the rigorous design, analysis and reporting of pilot and feasibility studies i.e. research conducted to establish whether future larger-scale studies can be done.
Stephen is co-Editor-in-Chief of the BioMed Central journal, Pilot & Feasibility Studies, and is co-Chair of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration - Registered Clinical Trials Units - Statistics Operations Group.
