Head of Clinical Translation and Governance

Biography

Valentina is the Head of Clinical Translation and Governance at the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE). She is a research programmes and operations manager with over 15 years’ experience working in world renowned academic institutions, a strong scientific background in healthcare engineering and specialist technical knowledge in medical device development. Valentina is responsible for leveraging the existing clinical translation infrastructures present at King's Health Partners' Trusts, alongside engaging with funding bodies, legal and regulatory teams, to develop a robust strategy for the adoption of new technologies into clinical settings. She coordinates all activities related to clinical translation of novel medical technologies (MedTech) developed by entrepreneurs hosted at LIHE, from first in human to early adoption. This includes forming connections with local and national networks of various clinical specialities to organise the evaluation of cutting-edge technologies at trial stages, which is integral to LIHE's mission.

Valentina is also the Deputy Lead of Development, Diversity & Inclusion (DDI) for the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, and sits on the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine DDI Committee, the Technical Representatives Committee and the King’s EDI Forum. She is the Equalities Officer for the King’s branch of Unite the Union and King’s representative for the Unite technicians’ forum.
