Biography
As the Specialist Technical Operations Manager at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, I'm closely involved in the establishment of a new engineering facility specialising in medical devices. My main responsibilities are to ensure ethics and regulatory compliance (including liaison with regulatory bodies, e.g. HTA, MHRA) and to maintain regulatory processes for the facility, which will hold a mock operating suite, ultrasound and engineering laboratories. I'm working closely with the School’s technical and professional services leads, a newly created QMS post, academics, researchers and students to establish a world leading facility in healthcare technology. I am also the School Governance Lead and I play a key role in supporting clinical translation activities by organising seminars, workshops and training sessions; coordinating and assisting with the preparation of new ethics & portfolio applications for clinical studies; and assisting the Head of School with overseeing Research Governance and Quality matters.
Additionally, I am the technical staff representative for the Faculty DDI (Development, Diversity & Inclusion) Committee and the professional services deputy representative for the School DDI Committee. I am also the Project Manager for: - "Guided Instrumentation for Fetal Therapy and Surgery (GIFT-Surg)", an Innovative Engineering for Health Award from the Wellcome Trust and EPSRC - "Image-Guided Microprecise Flexible Robotic Tools for Retinal Therapeutics Delivery", an Invention for Innovation (i4i) Award from the National Institute for Health Research.
