Dr Wendy Ross is a Lecturer in Psychology at King's College London, working at the intersection of cognitive psychology, creativity research, and philosophy of mind. Her research centres on insight, impasse, and problem-solving, with a particular interest in embodied and material cognition and in serendipity as a driver of creative thought.

She is a founding committee member of the Possibility Studies Network and she has held elected roles within the British Psychological Society's Cognitive Section currently serving as their representative on the BPS Research Board.

Wendy’s current projects include an ESRC New Investigator award examining insight and problem-solving, alongside a British Academy-funded study of insight and illusory truthiness.

She has published widely on impasse, serendipity, and the philosophy of creative cognition, including two edited volumes, The Art of Serendipity (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022) and Serendipity Science (Springer, 2023), and holds editorial roles including Series Editor of Palgrave Advances in Possibility Studies, Associate Managing Editor of Possibility Studies and Society and Associate Editor of the Creativity Research Journal.

Wendy completed a PhD in Psychology at Kingston University (2018–2021), supervised by Professor Frédéric Vallée-Tourangeau, following an MSc in Psychology (Distinction) at Kingston University and a BA (Hons) in English and Modern Languages from St Hugh's College, University of Oxford.

She previously served as Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BSc Psychology programme at London Metropolitan University.
