Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer

Biography

Xand joined King’s e-Research in February 2021, an inaugural member of this new department. As such, he was a key player in creation of new infrastructure from scratch at all levels: datacentre presence through to software applications, to provide new High Performance Computing and virtualisation environments, to facilitate research projects across the university.

This role follows sixteen years working in higher education, supporting and developing IT infrastructure key to teaching, learning and research: firstly, in the University of Kent's central IT department, and then at KCL's Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. Xand has a degree in Computer Science from Kent.

Xand’s key responsibilities and interests include:

* High Performance Computing infrastructure

* High-speed network design and implementation

* Linux server administration

* Cyber security

* Use of automation to improve reliability and efficiency
