Biography
Dr Xuezhou Wang is a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, King’s College London. He is a computational materials scientist working on multiscale modelling and simulation of microstructure evolution, defect kinetics, and phase transformation in metallic alloys, with particular emphasis on multicomponent aluminium alloys.
His research bridges first-principles calculations, atomistic simulations, and mesoscale numerical models to understand how alloy composition and processing conditions govern microstructure evolution and influence materials performance—knowledge that directly informs alloy design for demanding structural applications.
Xuezhou received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Southeast University, China, in 2018 and 2021 respectively. He then completed his Ph.D. in Physical Metallurgy at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, in 2026, presenting a multiscale modelling approach to investigating atom clustering and precipitation kinetics in 6xxx aluminium alloys, with particular attention to the role and influence of “invisible” vacancies.
At King’s, Xuezhou is extending his multiscale modelling approach beyond aluminium to a broader range of structural alloys, including titanium, nickel, and high-entropy alloys. He is also integrating machine learning and AI-driven methods into his workflows, furthering the understanding and design of advanced materials for industrial and engineering applications.
