Biography

Yangyi obtained an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching from King's College London in 2022. Before studying at King's, she worked as an English teacher for five years in a Chinese public school, during which she also held the position of headteacher for two years.

PhD research

Yangyi's particular research lies in integrating theory and principles of English as a lingua franca research paradigm into teaching practices. Her research project will be conducted in a particular socio-linguacultural context so as to generate classroom-oriented and location-specific innovative teaching approach.

Thesis title: An in-depth exploration on incorporating an ELF perspective into teaching practices in a Chinese university.
