
Biography
Yanni obtained a BA in English Language and Literature from the Beijing Normal University; an MA in Discourse Studies from Lancaster University; and is now a PhD candidate in Language and Communication at King's College London.
Research interests
- incorporating NLP techniques such as machining learning and LLM into corpus-assisted discourse studies
- investigation of large-scale textual and multimodal Chinese social media discourses
Thesis
Thesis title: A corpus-assisted discourse study of representations of 底层diceng in Chinese social media
Abstract: Yanni's PhD project employs LLM-empowered machine learning techniques to investigate media representations of the socially disadvantaged groups (or底层diceng in Chinese) on Chinese social media.
