Biography

Yeongil Lim is a Registered Nurse and PhD candidate at King’s College London, where she is pursuing doctoral research in Nursing Research. She brings nearly two decades of international experience in clinical nursing and nursing education, with particular expertise in adult nursing, critical care nursing, simulation-based education, and clinical placement. Her current research explores the transition experience of newly graduated nurses using constructivist grounded theory.

Prior to her PhD studies, Yeongil served as an Assistant Lecturer at Cheju Halla University in South Korea, where she taught adult nursing and critical care nursing simulation and coordinated clinical placements. She delivered undergraduate modules using problem-based, flipped, and blended learning approaches, embedding student-centred pedagogies across the curriculum. In addition to her teaching role, she also contributed to simulation module design as a consultant, supporting curriculum development and education innovation.

During her time at Cheju Halla University, Yeongil also held the role of director of foreign cooperation, leading an international knowledge exchange programme between her institution and a partner university in the United States. Notably, she was responsible for managing clinical placements during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that demanded flexibility, innovation, and leadership. The experience of supporting students through such uncertainty became the catalyst for her doctoral research, sparking an enduring interest in how newly graduated nurses navigate their transition into clinical practice.

Earlier in her career, Yeongil held clinical roles in intensive and cardiac critical care units across South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, including Korea University Guro Hospital and American Hospital Dubai. From 2015 to 2018, she served as health centre matron at Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar, a British international school in Malaysia. During this time, she completed a Master of Medical Science in Advanced Nursing Studies at the University of Sheffield, successfully balancing academic advancement with clinical leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dankook University in South Korea.

Yeongil is a licensed nurse in South Korea, the United States, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
