Biography
Yiqing is a PhD student in the Department of International Development.
Her research focuses on the motivations and impacts of online misogyny on Chinese social media. She has a keen interest in research topics related to social media, gender equality, and social justice.
Yiqing holds a Master's degree from the Department of Digital Humanities at King's College London. Alongside her PhD studies, she works with the Careers & Employability team at King's College London, supporting students from diverse backgrounds in their academic and international endeavours.
Research
Thesis title: The unique rationales, inner workings and transformation of online misogyny in contemporary China
Yiqing's doctoral research explores the impact of online misogyny in China and the unique motives behind it. Her research uses digital ethnography and semi-structured interviews to reveal how Chinese social media has become a "battlefield" between different gender groups.
