
Biography
Yushi Ye is a PhD student in the School of Education, Communication and Society at King's College London, within the Centre for Language, Discourse and Communication.
She holds an MA in Education from University College London and a BA in English from China. Before joining King’s, she worked as an English teacher in China and was involved in projects related to English-Chinese translation, curriculum development, and international trade. She is a member of the seminar organising committee at the Centre for Language, Discourse, and Communication. Her main research interests are in applied linguistics, with a focus on multilingualism in education.
Thesis
Thesis title: Chinese International Students' Language Use in a British University: Perspectives from Group Learning Activities
Abstract: Her doctoral research draws on the work in the research fields of multilingualism, language and discourse in learning, and language user agency. Her project investigates the ways in which Chinese-background international students use their plurilingual repertoire in learning activities in English-medium university settings. Her specific focus is on the interactional discourses in group/pair work contexts.
