Dr. Zakeya Baalawy obtained her Bachelors of Science, Health Science (Medical Laboratory Sciences) from Hunter College, City University of New York, NY, USA. She carried out her post graduate studies, both her Masters and doctorate from King’s College London United Kingdom. Subsequently she returned to the United Arab Emirate (UAE) where she was a lecturer, then Assistant Professor at Sharjah Women’s Campus of the Higher College of Technology.

In April 2023, Dr. Baalawy was awarded The Kidney Fund Post Doctoral Fellowship to carry out research into Renal Cell Carcinoma. Her focus is the role of Zinc Transporters and K-cadherin in the proliferative and metastatic stages of the cancer.
