Biography

Zenia is a PhD candidate in Strategic Communications, writing her thesis on Strategic Communications in the Roman Empire under the supervision of Dr. Neville Bolt. Zenia holds a BA in Classics from Durham University and an MA in Strategic Communications from King’s College London.

Zenia is an award-winning filmmaker who has made history documentaries for international broadcasters and streaming platforms such as Netflix, the BBC, Smithsonian and Discovery. In 2023, she published a career guide to working in factual television, Breaking into Factual TV. She is the producer and co-host of an ancient history podcast, Against the Lore, which has been running for eight seasons and has been listed as an educational resource by Homerton College, Cambridge.

Following several years with global strategic communications firm Edelman, working across the UK and Middle East offices, Zenia now works as an independent strategic communications consultant.

Zenia's MA dissertation was published as an article in Defence Strategic Communications:

Her strategic analysis of creative media in the late years of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was featured in a collaboration between NATO and KCL’s Centres for Strategic Communications:

In 2020, she created and edited an electronic magazine called Lessons from Lockdown that captured diverse perspectives and commentaries on public and private communications around coronavirus. The magazine included unique academic articles, photography, artwork and guest interviews, and was included as a core resource by King’s College London’s ‘Policy Insights’ think tank in their COVID-19 investigation.

Recently, she contributed a three-part series to the USC Annenberg School of Communication's Center for Public Diplomacy.
