Course Overview
This module will enable experienced healthcare practitioners to acquire additional systematic and structured history-taking assessment and physical examination skills, in order to integrate advanced assessment findings into clinical decision making, and to synthesize and implement knowledge into practice.

Course features
Participants will be able to:
- Apply relevant physiology to the patient/client.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the theoretical and clinical basis of physical examination and history taking.
- Demonstrate an awareness of ethical and legal issues underpinning patient assessment.
- Demonstrate an ability to analyse complex assessment data and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings.
- Critically apply diagnostic reasoning to differential diagnosis and clinical decision making.
- Demonstrate an enhanced quality of therapeutic interactions with patients/clients/others.
- Undertake referral and consultation as part of professional practice. To develop negotiating and referring skills.
- Accurately document clinical data and findings from patient assessments and communicate these appropriately, in writing and verbally, with others
- Integrate, synthesize and apply appropriate knowledge from relevant disciplines in a critical interpretation of the evidence in order to make appropriate clinical decisions.
- Demonstrate an ability to carry out and document accurately a comprehensive health history in practice.

Entry Requirements
This course is for qualified healthcare professionals. Applicants must provide evidence in the application portal of the following:
- A minimum 2:1 undergraduate Bachelor’s (honours) degree
- 2 years post-qualification experience
- Evidence of working in an advanced practitioner role/at an advanced level (or evidence of training towards an advanced practitioner role or equivalent), and having exposure to advanced physical assessment and clinical decision-making
- Evidence of workplace support from your employer to undertake this module
- If you have a lower degree classification, or your professional registration was made on the basis of a nursing diploma, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters or PGDip).
All applicants must also complete a signed copy of the Practice Assessor form. This form must be signed with a wet signature (not electronic), and must be attached with your application in the Application portal. Applications will only be considered if they provide the above-listed evidence, are completed in full and are submitted with the required signature
