Course overview
This module module contributes to your professional development by giving you a solid grounding in quantitative research methods. This will give you the skills to design, conduct and appraise your own and others’ research. This is the first module of our MRes in Clinical Research programme and thus provides a foundation for student's research methods training, complemented by our Advanced Qualitative Research Methods module taken in term 2.

- Clinical trials.
- Prognostic and diagnostic tests.
- Data types and distribution.
- Access and ethics.
- Hypothesis testing.
- Samples and populations.
- Approaches to analyses: comparisons, regression, correlation.
- Analysis of categorical and continuous data.
- Combining the results of independent studies.
