Equal Opportunities
The university is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all its staff and students, as this is an essential component in enabling us to achieve our world-class aspirations and excellence in teaching and research.
Under the Equality Act 2010, the university has an obligation to analyse the effect of its policies and practices on its staff and student body and report on its workforce, including the membership of its senior committees.
The information gathered through monitoring will be used to assist us to review progress in this area and to target any relevant interventions.
The Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form covers seven of the protected characteristics covered under the Equality Act: sex; age; ethnicity; disability; religion and belief; sexual orientation; and gender reassignment. We are additionally collecting nationality and ‘highest qualification held’ for inclusion within our anonymised HESA staff return. Further information can be found here: www.hesa.ac.uk/collection/c17025/returning_governors
The primary purpose of recording your name is to facilitate and aid year-on-year comparisons and analyses of membership data to inform relevant monitoring reports. The names themselves, alongside the individualised data, will be kept strictly confidential and any relevant reports will be issued in an anonymous manner in accordance with our Data Protection Policy.
